A healthy body, mind and planet all begin with the foods we eat. This month, try something new! - 03.05.2013

Ola, Tribe!

The arrival of March means spring will soon be in the air, the days are getting longer and it’s National Nutrition Month, making this the perfect time to focus on what we’re putting in our bodies and how this impacts our overall health.

I believe that a healthy body, mind and planet all begin with the foods we eat. Incorporating more nutritious ingredients into our diet can be a delicious and exciting venture. Having routine in some aspects of our lives is smart and necessary, but not when it comes to what we eat. With so many amazing foods and flavor combinations of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins, there’s no reason to limit ourselves to a monotonous and restrictive diet. Livening up your everyday meals and snacks with exotic ingredients keeps your diet interesting and makes you want to continue eating healthy and discovering new foods that you love.

At Sambazon, we’re passionate about introducing people to new, unbelievably flavorful Amazon Superfoods like yerba mate, acerola cherry, guarana, cacao and of course, the powerfully nutritious açaí berry. The health benefits of these ingredients are even richer when combined with one another or with other nutritional powerhouses like pomegranate, kale and quinoa. The epic flavors make you forget that you’re getting high amounts of antioxidants, vitamin C and healthy omegas, and boosting your immunity and mental health.

As part of our resolution for 365 days of positive change, I hope you’ll join us in challenging yourself to eat nutritiously, while at the same time taking culinary risks. Every time you visit your local farmer’s market or grocery store, seek out a new ingredient – read about it, taste it and put it in your sandwich, salad, or your dinner side dish. I guarantee you’ll discover some incredible foods along the way that not only taste good, but make you feel good and inspire you to continue trying new foods. If you’re not sure where to start, check out some of the superfoods we feature in our original recipes on our website, Facebook and Pinterest page.
