5 Tips For Mastering Your Morning Routine

It’s no secret that how you choose to start your mornings affects the rest of your day, week, month, year, and those years add up to create your life. Before we dive in, I encourage you to ask yourself: how do I want my year to look? How does the best version of me start their day?

Begin to visualize what your ideal morning routine looks like to accomplish all of your goals this year. Here are some tips to get you started on a productive day as well.

Habit Stacking:

Given that we’re creatures of habit, we already have established habits throughout the day, whether we realize them or not. Reflect on your current habits and see what habits you want to keep and ditch. More importantly though, see where you can STACK your habits. This is a concept from James Clear that is legendary and will set you up for success.

Essentially the concept is to use the habits that you already have in place to create new ones more seamlessly. For example, if you want to start your day off with a journaling session and you make your coffee as soon as you wake up every morning, place your journal next to your coffee maker. Every morning you already have the habit of going to your coffee, and now you will see your journal. Journal while your coffee is brewing, and the coffee will be a nice reward for completing your new habit!

Nourish Your Body:

Our first meal of the day influences our choices throughout the rest of the day, so I always love to start the day off with nourishment that is going to make me feel energized and ready to take on the day. This is where SAMBAZON Açaí Smoothie Cubes come in! Not only are they insanely delicious and easy to use (hello convenience), but they don’t even require a blender!

Did someone say no clean up?! Yes please! The Smoothie Cubes are a blend of Açaí with Mixed Berries or Mango to fuel you for your day. Blend with either oat milk or coconut water for a balanced start to the day!

Fuel Your Mind:

While we can’t control external events or what happens to us, we can control our reactions and thoughts around these events. Starting your day off with positive, reaffirming mindset work can offer a huge improvement in your life. Some of my favorite suggestions are free journaling, gratitude journaling, reading motivational books (my favorite is The Daily Stoic) or listening to inspiring podcasts.

Create a Supportive Environment:

Your environment will either help you or hurt you in reaching your goals and mastering your ideal morning routine. If you’re trying to kick the habit of scrolling on your phone in the morning or before bed, but it’s the last thing you see when you go to bed and the first thing you see when you wake up, you’re setting yourself up for failure.

Ensure that your environment is consistent with the habits you want to reinforce. This can be as simple as setting out your journal or books you want to read somewhere you will see it, prepping your gym clothes the night before or meal prepping healthy snacks for the week. Don’t simply rely on willpower - we’re human and that is an uphill battle!

Consistency > Perfection

Saving the MOST important tip for last, remember that life HAPPENS and it’s not realistic to believe that you will be able to have the exact same 1-hour routine every morning. What I suggest is focusing on consistency of overarching habits and being flexible with how they look each day, depending on your schedule, energy levels, needs, etc.

For example, if you don’t have the time for a long exercise class, maybe you opt to do a quick 10-minute stretch. Don’t have time for a 20 min journaling session or mediation? Find a getting ready mediation you can play while you get ready for the day or are prepping your breakfast. This consistency of keeping the habit but with flexibility will help you show up for yourself each day in a sustainable way for LIFE!
