What is an Açaí Bowl? - 04.02.2013
Açaí bowls were popularized in Brazil and are packed with fiber, antioxidants, and healthy omegas 3, 6 and 9, from real whole-food ingredients. These bowls energize your body as a meal or snack any time of day with out-of-this-world flavors and textures. Once you give it a go, you’ll know what we mean about this life changing food experience. It’s a super yummy and nutritious alternative to cereal, breakfast bars, or yogurt.
An açaí bowl is a like a thick-blended smoothie of frozen açaí berries that is poured into a bowl and topped with all sorts of fresh fruit and crunchy granola then eaten with a spoon. We like how you can make any kind of bowl to fit your health needs including high protein, detox, and high fiber. Or, you can make some more simple bowls that are made up of just your favorite fruits.
The Traditional Rio bowl is made by blending:
- 2 Sambazon Original Açaí Smoothie Packs
- 1/8 cup organic apple juice
- 1/2 an organic banana
- Topped with organic granola and banana slices
If you don’t have a café around you that serves açaí bowls (check out our locator for “National Açaí Bowl Day” participants), you can make your own and win amazing Sambazon schwag on National Açaí Bowl Day, April 6 (details here)!
